OK! So I know I have been a little shy with my blog postings lately. However, it has been for a very good reason! I have been working on a new blog and am ready to share it with you all! I am really excited to be having a new blog to post on since you will NOT need a magnifying glass to see the pictures anymore! I am going to be making changes to it as I go along, but for the most part it is pretty much done. Very simple with BIG pictures to post! FINALLY!!!!
Check it out here! This blog won’t be used anymore so make sure you bookmark the new address for the new blog, which is where I will be posting all my work and happenings from here on in!

Hi Everyone! Don’t forget…We are heading into a new season and it is time for the year’s first PB&J…(photography, beer, and junkfood).
The meeting is being held at Laura Landau’s house in Danbury on April 14th. (Next Tuesday) @ 6:30 pm. It will be BYOB and we will be ordering pizza I think to keep it simple this time around.
For all newcomers out there…PB&J started last year, with the intention of just a group of photographers getting together on a causual basis to discuss our obsessions with it, as well as our struggles, and to do a bit of networking, which I believe is an important ingredient to a thriving business.
So it is open to anyone who is aspiring or professinal and is very casual and will be informational as well.
For directions or Laura’s address please contact me through email: mlabphotos@sbcglobal.net, by leaving a comment below with your email so I can send along the address, or give me a call…203. 791.8969
I hope to see you there! And….
Happy Thursday!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Susan Stripling in her home in Brooklyn. It was such a cool experience and I learned quite a few things from the day! We kind of got stuck with some not so great weather conditions to shoot in, but we tried to make the best of it. After an information packed sushi lunch, we had a really adorable couple come out and show us what they got. They were just about the cutest people to photograph! So into each other! Here is what I got for the day! This posts image uploader is having a mind of its own today, so I am giving my thanks to Susan now rather than the end of the post!!!
Enjoy and Happy Friday!

This is Susan!

I am a sucker for body language shots…
I think this my favorite image from the day!

Susan opened her home to us,which was very cool of her, and I snagged her “Patience” dish to grab this ring shot! I think that about sums up one of the finer ingredients of a sucessful marriage! ;o)

In our house it is very important we practice good dental hygiene. Especially my daughter because she is a huge thumbsucker and constantly has her thumb in her mouth. I usually dread when it is time to brush teeth, simply becuase it is about a 2 minute task that takes us about 20 minutes. There usually involves some sort of argument over who gets to hold the toothpaste, who gets to be at the sink, and ends most times with me having to pin down the two little munchkies so I can ACTUALLY brush their teeth. (it is also common for them just to suck the toothpaste off of the brush and never actually do any brushing).
So this is something I want to remember for sure. Perhaps to remind them years from now what I put up with every morning and night!!! This toothbrushing session today with my daughter was a tame one. Her big brother was at school and she had noone to play off of! ;o)

I do monitor this next step of applying the paste…since in the past has been quite the production.

so fun…who knew?

Happy Thursday!

Yesterday I went to Olive’s Armoire, a fun boutique thrift store in Bethel CT, and felt like I had seen the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! There is just something very fullfilling to me about thrift store shopping. I have come to the conclusion that it is the element of surprise in possibly finding that something perfect you have been looking for or needed, and finding it on a whim.
I believe in the game of thrift store shopping you are required to have a certain frame of mind. You must remain open minded and willing to accpet all things for what they are and have a vision of what posibilities lie within. Many times I have browsed vintage and thrift stores and thought to myself ”There is nothing I have to go with that” or “That’s nice but…I don’t have the right …(fill in the blank)…”. This is all negativity. You need to scratch that from your list and think of the positive. You must be creative. I believe the only way to succeed in Thrift Store Shopping is by taking that first intitial chance and buy something ” Just Because”. That’s right! Just because you liked it! How many times have you bought something because it kept calling your name and then upon bringing it home, you found that it was indeed worth every penny spent, because you now have found three more things you can wear with it in addition to what you originally bought it for. That is a sign that it was meant to be yours! Once you dive into the world of thrift store shopping you may find yourself getting carried away with it. Don’t get caught up in this whirlwind of terror. It is a big fisad. You need to remain level headed and know when to walk away. It is only a bargain if you can find a use for it and if you can find joy in owning it.
In a nutshell I LOVE thrift store shopping. Spending less, being creative, the element of surprise, having something unique and different than what is in the mainstream stores, and of course, the thrill of the hunt are just some of the perks!
So here are my finds from yesterday. I made out like a bandit. Now…YES. I did spend a tad bit more than what I expected, since I really only went in for a broach or pin, but this brings us back to the element of surprise…you never know when things that are meant to be will just pop into your life…much like love! ;o)
My new cool belt…I am picturing this with a sweater…my new corduroy skirt that I spent $5 bucks on (the skirt is an ANN TAYLOR by the way), a cool pair of knee high leather boots and you have a unique touch to an otherwise ordinary outfit!
This I can’t take credit for in picking out. The woman who owns the store helped me pick out a pin that I could use for a fushia satin, asymetrical dress that I will be wearing as a guest to a wedding soon. The dress needed something and I thought up the idea of the broach or pin, but she picked out the blue flowers to add a bit of color to the dress! It works and with a cool pair of silver shoes and earings I am good to go! (by the way…$175 Banana Republic dress I found for $26.99) Wooohooo!
This is my cutie pie who likes to try on my clothes time and again. When I go shopping she is usually on the floor in the dressing room half dressed and trying something on!

Cute…colorful (green is my favorite color)…pefect for under a sweater…$2 .
and this is my cutie pie just being a munchkie and following me around the house when I was shooting! ;o)
Happy Thursday!

Saturday I shot a wedding with my friend Peter and we shot again at the Glen Island Harbour Club over in New Rochelle, NY. This is the second time this year so far that I have shot a wedding with Peter at the Harbour Club, and it is a challange to shoot at a venue twice in a month and come up with completely different images! But I LOVE a good challange!
I was in charge of a few details and mainly being the fly on the wall for the evening! Here’s what I got for the day!
Enjoy!

I love shoes…and I am not sure which pic I like best, so here is all 3~

The couple chose to see each other before the ceremony…which is always such an honor to shoot. It is such an intimate part of the day!

We headed outside for some fun and relaxed portraits!

the rings, came equiped in this cute jewlery box! So I used it!
Ceremony…

and the reception…

Have a Happy and Snowy Monday!
