Model Update…
November 28, 2007, 2:28

I got a bunch of repsonses to my needing a model for a shoot I am doing in Feb/March of 2008. I have found a willing and cute couple to help me out for that shoot and they have been contacted with all the necessary details for the moment. But I encourage you to send me your info along with a picture of you (mainly looking for a couple) as I will be doing 5 or 6 shoots similar to this through out the year. I am looking for specific qualities of people for specific shoots and it is really just based on history in itself, not perfect beautiful people. The scoop is I will be doing this as an on-going project for the 2008 year, in between all my other jobs, weddings/portrait commissions. So basically in my spare-time, even though I don’t have any.

Each shoot will need two models, one man – one woman.

They will receive the DVD files

They will receive hair (wig) makeup and a wordrobe will be provided for the shoot.

They will also get lunch on me! I love food! Nearly everything I do involves eating food. Yum!

It started out with just a simple thought about an idea I had for one of my upcoming shoots, and I have been inspired by a past shoot of mine. All that I do starts out SIMPLE…but ends up being completely involved, time consuming, and money draining. But I am excited about doing this. I can’t give too many details…As the year unfolds – so will the secret shoots. My intent is to be constantly shooting and defining my style, along with hoaning my craft and off camera lighting skills. So it will be anything but easy street to complete, but so rewarding and I can’t wait to get started. I am maybe planning on putting together a small coffee table book of all my hard work through out the year…and possibly having a show. Yipeeeeeeee!

Back in Time!

I love when stuff like this happens in life. We are having a tiny bit of necessary work done on our house. It is an overhang below our kitchen, which was added onto our house way back in the late 50’s or early 60’s. When opening up the overhang to put new insulation in it, our very kind friend Kenny, who does some random construction on our home, found this with my husband! A Schaefer beer can from way back when. I love old stuff and it really makes me wonder…who drank from this can?

Check out the link I provided to see other old Beer advertisements…click here!

This is a shot I took and I did some research and added in some slogans of their’s from an old advertisement! Too funny the way they marketed back in the good ol’e days!

schaeferbeer.jpg

Here’s Kenny, who was working on our house and found the beer can! Of course there was no beer in the can!

I am keeping this to use as a prop for some personal work I am doing in the upcoming months! So cool!

Need a Model!

Hi There…Need a Model again. Every couple of months I do a little shoot that isn’t a paying shoot, but something that I can really dig my teeth into and get creative with. I did a few trash the dress shoots for some girls this fall and now will be looking to do something a tad bit offbeat for the winter. The shoot will include probably a guy and a girl, if I can find “a couple” willing that is. I am not saying what exactly it is until the right one comes forth! But it will be so much fun and I can’t wait! I will give you a hint. It is sometimes said that “what goes around comes around” and this lies true with my theme! I don’t think you will guess! This is something I am planning on doing in February/March and hopefully that will give you plenty of time to mark your calendar if you want to do it or pass on the info to someone else who would do it.

So short and sweet…

need model or two (man and woman)

February/March

It is said that what goes around comes around and this lies true with my theme!

You will get the files on DVD and hair (or a wig ;o) and makeup done! Yippppeeee!

It involves a really cool wordrobe too! Can’t beat that!

Meet Hermie!

Meet Hermie…our new Pet! He is a cute little hermit crab. It was an impulse thing at the pet store one day and boy am I happy we splurged! For $28 bucks we came back with a hermit crab, which we have informally named Hermie, a tank, some sand-food-spray bottle and a Palm tree. Oh and a log for him to climb on! He is so much fun and now we have something to take care of at home. We plan on teaching our kids how to be responsible and how to be gentle with people and animals. So what better way to learn than with Hermie. If you even go 10 inches near him he hides! He was a tad bit camera shy so he was definitely a challange to photograph!

Okay, Vinny and Kristin’s Part II of their blog entry! By the way I believe the name of Vinny’s book that he wrote and published is called ” Looking Deeper” and you can check out his myspace page which has info about it by clicking here. So here is the rest of their pics to blog!

The men…

I find the Meeting House in Newtown CT a tad bit difficult to shoot a full frontal view since the front of the church is only about 20 feet from the road and is covered by a huge tree. So I split up the angles a bit.

Wish me luck! Workshop Scholarship!
November 24, 2007, 2:28

I have entered a sorta-contest to win a scholarship to the great Love Affair Workshop put together by a few of my favorite photographers. I got the info off of Millie and Kelly’s blogs and hope I get chosen as it would be exactly what the doctor ordered for me!!! It is a workshop only for women…that is right…NO MEN ALLOWED!!!! I don’t normally care if men are included or not, but I think there is something about being surrounded by a bunch of women that is like therapy with out the huge bill tacked on.  Us woman are like rubber bands…we are stretched and twirled and wrapped around stuff, expected to keep things together, and we always seem to bounce back to our normal selves with out snapping or breaking. So needless to say, we all have a little something in common.

So the scoop is they are having a scholarship for one lucky woman who writes a short essay on why they should be the lucky one to attend the workshop for FREE!!! WOW!!! How generous of them! That is like a dream come true. It is like Charlie finding the Golden ticket! A once in a lifetime opportunity. So I entered. I wrote my short essay and I have slept on it, wished I had included some more info on why I could use a creative recharge and attend the workshop, but realize what’s done is done. So I am left with only hope that they will consider me as the lucky scholarship winner! I also realize that if they do choose someone else that it wasn’t meant to be and that the person who was chosen was more deserving. But I really hope they pick me! Can’t win if you don’t play!

So on that note, wish me luck!

Kristin and Vinny: Married 10.05.07

Vinny and Kristin got married back in October and have been so patient waiting for this blog entry! So here’s the story. Vinny and I go way back (okay not really, but it makes the story sound better ;o) He works part time at a deli that I used to live next to. I would occasionally go in there for snacks, the paper, etc. and I would sometimes see Vinny in there. Little did I know that I would be shooting his wedding one day!  I don’t think we ever said more than “Hi” or “that’ll be $2.50″ to each other. So I didn’t have any idea that he was going to be getting married. So Vinny was always just “Vinny from the Deli” to me. But then Kristin and him decided they’d have me shoot their wedding and I first really got to know them at the Engagement session (which is why I love those so much) and found out that Vinny is not just “Vinny from the Deli”. He is also a teacher, and a writer who just wrote and published his first book himself! He also was Vinny with a beautiful red-head fiance(now wife), named Kristin. I am so happy I got to know these two! They appreciate good things in life, like photography of course, and just good ol’e clean fun! I like them! So here is their part I of a 2 post series. Part II is yet to come. I am way tired tonight. Triptofan (spelling?) after-effects.

the little pipsqueak!

I am a proud member of the photography organization, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, (NILMDTS)and am just writing to let you know they have done a really great job updating their website! It is so beautiful and I am honored to be a part of the organization. For those of you who are not familiar with NILMDTS…it is an organized group of photographers, nationwide, that donate their time and talent to families that are experiencing the hardships of losing a newborn infant. I decided to be one of the many great and selfless photographers out there that help families remember such a brief and painful, yet beautiful, time in their lives so I could give to the less fortunate. Some of you may know that my daughter was born premature and I will never forget those days and nights spent in the NIC-U wishing I could just hold her and kiss her and let her know that I was their to make everything all better. It was one of the hardest things my husband and I went through together. So I wanted to give back to those parents who are not as fortunate as we were, in being able to carry our little angel home for the first time. And Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is my way of giving back to the community and to families who want to remember the brief period of life they spent with their child.
So check out the link I provided and see the WONDERFUL  job they did re-vamping their site! And pass along the word to any family who would be a fit for the services in which us photographers provide!

Claudette and Rob: Married 09.29.07

I shot Claudette and Rob’s wedding back in September and it will be my new sample album for my studio! I can’t wait to design it! I came away with some beautiful moments and lovely details and I think mainly it is because Claudette and Rob are two of the nicest people! I had a hard time narrowing down my picks for this entry…here are some for you all to enjoy!

A detail shot of her dress, simple and elegant:

Her flowers:

The shoes…which I love, so I posted two pics!

amenfinal-228-of-577-copy.jpg

Meet Claudette…isn’t she pretty?

amenfinal-267-of-577-copy.jpg

amenfinal-288-of-577-copy.jpg

amenfinal-289-of-577-copy.jpg

I love this shot of her…the wedding that was taking place prior to hers at the church started an hour late due to their late limo, just a minor bump in the road. You would never guess it in this pic! She was so calm and collect.

amenfinal-287-of-577-copy.jpg

The rings. I believe the jewler said there aren’t many couples today that pick out identical rings anymore…so they wanted a shot to show the detail in both rings. Check out my details section on my website to see Claudette’s engagement ring…It’s a rock and a half!

A beautiful moment…

This is Rob…Handsome!

amenfinal-305-of-577-copy.jpg

We were blessed with some serious, ideal afternoon portrait light for the formals:

amenfinal-484-of-577-copy.jpg

She seems to have a great connection with the girls from her work! I loved it!

amenfinal-581-of-577-copy.jpg

yummmm…

I love this about weddings. In the church you see all these people sitting so proper and well behaved. It is hard to imagine that any of them would become party animals…but they always do!

Congrats Claudette and Rob! Can’t wait to share the rest!
