Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I had a very cool opportunity to be a part of a very meaningful fundraiser last Saturday in Woodbridge CT. My friend Talia from Sixpence For Your Shoe invited me to come along the the event and donate a portrait session to help raise money for a great cause, scholarships that are offered to Amity Regional High School Seniors in memory of Jared Rosner. You can read all about it in the post below. I have to say it was a great success and it was very apparent that Jared, the friend, brother and son, who was killed in a skiing accident a few years back, was greatly loved and missed. You could feel the warmth and love in the air and I was extremely honored to be part of such a successful and intimate affair and I hope to help them out in the future as well. (if they want me to that is ;o) Thanks so much Talia for making us feel so welcome and such a part of this special event. It is much appreciated! The event was a silent auction and was a huge success! I look forward to shooting whoever it may be that won the session with me!!!
Happy and Healthy New Year to ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to be hopefully posting on a more regular basis since the workflow is beginning to taper for the year. I have a few jobs left over to blog and edit, wedding, trash the dress stuff and some of my own personal stuff for marketing and behind the scenes type stuff, so in my spare time (hehe!) I will be posting a picture each day…mainly to keep you coming back and keep you updated with what I am working on 24-7! And also to keep my creative juices flowing through the rough winter months ahead! ( I think rough is a bit dramatic ;o) So they won’t necessarily be of clients all the time, sometimes just stuff I like, for instance…
shoes…and these were my favorite pair this fall…
yippppeeeeeeee! You can get them on sale now at Lord & Taylor for like 40 or 50 bucks and they come in brown too!

Athena and Jeff…I love these guys! They rock! The story goes like this. Last year I got a call from Athena wanting me to photograph them! Yipeeee! I knew she was cool because I loved the design on the check that she sent along with the contract in the mail! So we met on December 9th, 2006! And here we are exactly one year later, December 9th, 2007, shooting just some 50 some-odd feet away from where we originally met last year! It was by chance that we picked that day, and then the light-bulb went off in my head! Wow…it is our 1 year Anniversary! How cool was that! Even cooler was the fact that after the shoot last year, we had we all realized that we could really hang out with each other on a friendship level . So we went out to dinner one night, and realized even more just how much we all had in common. I love life for this reason alone! You never know who you will meet and the impact they will have on your life. And coming from some old-timers like my husband and I … we were in need of friends like Athena and Jeff! I love my job for this reason. Some of my clients really do end up becoming my friends. Photography really is all about capturing the personalities of your subjects. So really, there is no avoiding getting to know the “real” you’s !!! (gramatically incorrect but sounds right in my head!) So from dinner to ice-cream and taboo, to eating Mexican Specials…this one is for my lovely friends…donut loving and gas guzzling (long story) … Athena and Jeff!
we started off at the Danbury Railway Museum for a little something different…

Jeff had fun on the ice…

This was fun…

second location was Tarrywhile Park in Danbury. Athena picked this spot and we got some warm and cozy shots here…

Merry Christmas Athena and Jeff! We can’t wait to do homemade pizza and do another round of Taboo with you! ;o) So happy we met!

Okay guys! It is that time of year again. The time has come to take a personal inventory of ourselves and reach deep down inside and figure out what we are setting out to do this year…what goals we have, what we want to change about ourselves for the better. I have a very long list…hehe! One major one, which was also my resolution from last year, is to become ORGANIZED. WHAT???? I forget what that even means!!! I try soooo hard and actually sought out to buy a wonderful calendar from Office Max to put all appts in from drs. visits, to kids stuff at school, to client appts and wedding dates booked. However, I wasn’t destined to be organized in the year 2007 because in October of 2007 there are no calendars for 2007 anymore…hmmmmm. So I will officially be organized come January first, and can’t wait to begin using my new Black Book. But don’t worry, you won’t be considered bad if you are in MY black book, it will be a very good thing-in other words…you’re in like Flynn! I wrote a small list and highly recommend it!
1. ORGANIZE MY LIFE!!!
2. Offer exceptional customer service to my clients and potential clients! Huge one for me for next year. I have many more business goals to reach next year in terms of customer service, technical experimenting, equipment purchases, etc. etc.
3. Make better food choices. I have gone up a size, no joke…not funny. ;o(
4. Make more time for friends…doing fun stuff…yippppeeeeeeee!
5. Manage my time. This is a BIG factor for me…I need to learn about time management…like instead of twiddling my hair and staring off into space…put away that stack of papers that I have been staring at for quite some time.
6. Try something new when I go out to eat. BIG ONE…except this doesn’t go with my number 3 on the list…I always get the same thing when I go out to eat…Chinese=moochoo chicken or broccoli chicken, Italian=chicken parm or ravioli (blah blah blah), and Mexican= what else besides chicken fajitas. Now come on, there is more to Mexico than chicken fajitas…like steak fajitas!!!
7. Expand my reading abilities. Like actually read books rather than US , People, In-Touch.I can’t help it, I want to. I like to see what they wear. But I want to actually read a book from front to back and gain knowledge from it.
8. Avoid hitting the alarm in the morning numerous times before getting out of bed. This is soooo hard for me. My gosh, I am just not a morning person. I find nothing great about getting up at the crack of dawn.
9. Give with out expecting anything in return.
10. remember that life is a day to day journey and to relax and breathe and just enjoy the moment. Also…I am trying to make the world a better place one act of random kindness at a time…(stole that from Evan Almighty) but really mean it~
Have a good night!

I knew Kelly and Josh’s wedding was going to be fun and definitely cool because when I received her contract in the mail and read it, on the line where it says transportation for the day, she put , and I quote, “Limo Bus, Wheeeeeeee!” She is such a pip! I loved being a part of their day. They got married at the Meeting House in Newtown, and had the reception in Washington CT. It was very cool. So here are a bunch of my favorites from the day…
Kelly, getting ready.

She was one hot bride! I think she is really classy! ;o)

her and her Dad read stories like old times!
these shoes, which weren’t her shoes for the wedding, were screaming to be photographed on the floor in her mom’s bathroom! They rock.

Here is handsome Josh…the groom.

here’s another handsome man…
the groom’s mom, and some cute kiddies, waiting for Kelly to enter the church.

Yipppeeeeeeee!

Kelly requested this shot…I love it…so simple.

The coolest candy-scape ever…it was a huge hit! I stole some reece’s peanut butter cups. Hope you don’t mind Kelly! ;o)

A cupcake tier instead of the usual cake…loved it…yummmmmmm! (stole one of those too)

first dance…

I believe it was 7:55pm here…

I am not sure if he will remember this…so I figured I would help him out a bit!

Don’t Stop Believing by Journey is such a great song…
Congrats to you Kelly and Josh! See ya soon!

My father-in-law sent this to me today!!! I thought it was kinda funny! Hehe! It is an alternative to your traditional first dance as a married couple!
A couple weeks back, Talia from Sixpence For Your Shoe asked me to be a vendor for an auction they are holding in West Haven to help raise money for scholarships for students at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge. The scholarship is called the Jared Rosner Memorial Scholarship. Jared was in the 1997 graduating class at Amity High School and also graduated from Bucknell University in 2001. He died about 4 years ago in a tragic skiing accident. I never knew Jared but from what I hear he was a pretty great person and had many academic and athletic interests. I was so honored to be asked to donate a portrait session, which will be auctioned off at the fundraiser this weekend. I love being a part of something so positive. It is really the little things in life that are so important and I am happy to be able to add a little happiness in someone’s life. Giving, and not only this time of year, is the best thing in life that you can do. I am very excited to be able to attend the fundraiser and help give back to others for a such a great cause. I will post some info in the future in regards to the success of the fundraiser, which I am sure will be a wonderful success!
Lately I have been really wanting to experiment with some textures and incorporating them into an image…I know Jesh de Rox’s are really great but I am trying to be good and only buy for other people this Holiday Season. This is something I need to discipline myself with. So I have begun to experiment with some texturizing myself. I am going to try and build a texture library (sounds cool ;o) and here is my first attempt. Don’t laugh if you think it is lame. I am just a beginner in the texture department and realize with time, I will weed out what works and doesn’t work. It is all experimental. Great thing is it just takes a little thinkin’ and a bit of tweaking and then viola’! A warm and cozy image like this!
Let me know your thoughts…but please don’t be too harsh…I am sensitive! ;o)

This shoot happened way back in August, hence the light clothing! This was such a fun shoot to do. I met her through my husband! She helped me out with the kiddies in just enough time when things got hectic around here. I knew I wanted to shoot her the second I opened the front door to meet her! She was cute! (still is!) and had a personality beyond belief! (still does!) Here are a few of my favorites…
We shot up in New Milford. Our first stop was an abandoned building on the side of the road!

We scrounged up enough courage to go inside the building…it was dark (scary), dirty, and dangerous…I love trespassing!!!

the bridge in New Milford

Our shoot got rained on so we decided to head to a parking garage in Danbury. We got kicked out of the first one…trespassing again. We had better luck in the second garage… Oh yeah, we shot the garage shots with some great off camera lighting courtesy of my Ford Explorer!

Thanks so much “M”…we miss you and can’t wait to see you again!
