Susan Stripling Workshop Pics!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Susan Stripling in her home in  Brooklyn. It was such a cool experience and I learned quite a few things from the day! We kind of got stuck with some not so great weather conditions to shoot in, but we tried to make the best of it. After an information packed sushi lunch, we had a really adorable couple come out and show us what they got. They were just about the cutest people to photograph! So into each other!  Here is what I got for the day! This posts image uploader is having a mind of its own today, so I am giving my thanks to Susan now rather than the end of the post!!!

Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Brushin’ Teeth!
March 12, 2009, 2:28

In our house it is very important we practice good dental hygiene. Especially my daughter because she is a huge thumbsucker and constantly has her thumb in her mouth. I usually dread when it is time to brush teeth, simply becuase it is about a 2 minute task that takes us about 20 minutes. There usually involves some sort of argument over who gets to hold the toothpaste, who gets to be at the sink, and ends most times with me having to pin down the two little munchkies so I can ACTUALLY brush their teeth. (it is also common for them just to suck the toothpaste off of the brush and never actually do any brushing).

So this is something I want to remember for sure. Perhaps to remind them years from now what I put up with every morning and night!!! This toothbrushing session today with my daughter was a tame one. Her big brother was at school and she had noone to play off of! ;o)

The Kiddies!

It is rare that I take my camera out to capture shots of my little ones. I have to remind myself that they will only be this young once and that it would be such a shame if I one day look back and wish I could remember who they were at this time in life and have no photographs to help me do so. Actually one of the things on my to-do-list this year is to keep up with my family photos on a monthly basis! Also to buy a video camera so I can record their voices! These two are the most wonderful gift I have ever received in life! They are everything to me and a constant reminder of how precious life is.

Nina…she is a diva and a very VERY dramatic little princess!  But she is full of spirit, can light up a room, and we all love her dearly! ;o)

There are times in life when things always seem to go wrong and you feel like you just might cave in and be defeated. Any of my family, friends, and even some of my close knit clients know that I have been on a serious roller coaster ride this year and the ride just keeps on going. I don’t remember standing in line to ride this mountain and valley track, but someone signed me up with out my permission. I need to have a serious chat with them. But anyhoo…Upon reading my friend Carla’s blog today, her entry really hit home, and I felt it necessary to post about how important it is to remain focused on the meaning of life and how to overcome obstacles that are thrown at us, and the bumps in the road that we experience along the way. Life presents you with challenging situations and it really is how we approach them that makes all the difference. So although this may sound really cliche and cheesey…I think this one little statement could make all the difference in how you live your life. I can’t take the credit for thinking it up. I am just not that smart when it comes to making up certain things…but I am smart enough to believe in them…
So the next time life seems like it is working against you and that everything seems to be falling apart try to tell yourself that there is a positive in it. Think the following and you just may find a bit of peace and strength in yourself…which can carry you through the toughest terrains…

”THERE IS AN ADVANTAGE IN THIS…I WILL FIND IT OR MAKE IT”

and there is also the FIVE BALL THEORY:
There are 4 GLASS BALLS & 1 RUBBER BALL the 4 Glass Balls represents FAMILY, FRIENDS, HEALTH, SPIRIT and the RUBBER BALL represents JOB.
In life we keep on juggling these balls ……. and the life continues……. A small mistake and any of these balls might fall …… if the rubber ball falls it would bounce back…… No matter in what time it would bounce back … 1 month … 3 months… 6 months, but it would definitely bounce back…..But the Glass Ball….. Very delicate…. once it falls….. It can never be brought to its original shape again….
So on that note…
I hope you all have a Happy Friday and live life to its fullest!!!

A bit about me…

Every once in a while I get into posting on my blog and I try to add in some fun stuff about myself, just so you know who stands behind the big bulky piece of black equipment I push in front of your faces!

So here are a few things you may not have known about me…

1. I once got to be part of the flag ceremony at Arlington Cementary in Washington DC. pretty nifty!

2. I can recite the fifty states alphabetically in order really fast! (thanks to the song I learned in 7th grade for our singing recital)

3. I almost always go through the EZ Pass Lane with cash in my hand while driving to the city. OOOOPS!

4. My favorite past time is driving and listening to music, especially when the sun is just going down.

5. I love airports. Something about them excite me. I love the way I feel when I am in them.

6. I once went to an interview soon after college and was told by the very nice interviewer that I would NEVER get a job shooting right off the bat. The next week I started shooting for The Danbury News-Times as a photo-journalist.

7. I once had a soccer coach pay for me to attend a tournament that I would have had to skip out on because my parents didn’t have the money for me to go. I felt honored.

8. I once burnt my lips on a pot that was boiling water on the stove because I saw my reflection in it and I kissed it! That hurt.

9. I am huge NYC fan…although I would never really want to live there.

10. I almost went to school for massage therapy.

11. I shot my first wedding almost 8 years ago. It was a second marriage and I was sooooo nervous I almost got sick to my stomach. You eventually get over that!!!

12. I once found an albino tree frog in a plant that I bought from Stop and Shop. It lived in my room for quite some time before we met! He never bothered me much! I let him free after we crossed paths!

I am off to NYC for an Eshoot tomorrow and then a Bar Mitzvah tomorrow night!

Enjoy your weekend!

Hey!

Well, I have been extremely on the outs of the blogger’s world, which sucks you in like a vaccuum by the way! So I am slowly getting sucked back into Blog Haven. I miss it! It is a fun outlet and a great way to communicate what is going on in my life as well as keeping in touch with all you guys out there that like to read up on my boring life!

Well, first thing is…

Stay tuned for some fun pics of Carrie and Gregg’s wedding which was last Saturday in Oxford. I got to see one of my favorite clients, Kelly, as well as her Mom and Pop, at the wedding and she was sporting these HOT red pumps! Kelly, you one hot chickie!

Also, I will be getting some album designs out this weekend and within the next couple weeks to follow. So please stay tuned for those designs to be posted. I love to share these…as it is always fun to see the pics displayed in the final stages of production. It’s when it all comes together and really tells the story of the couple’s love for each other. Every couple has a different story, which makes every design and book unique, like the love-birds themselves!

Also, I am super excited to be shooting a wedding this year for Jeremy and Sue Ann. When I met with them for the first time I knew they were the cool. Sue Ann signs notes and emails with “SMILE ON” instead of the ordinary “BYE-BYE” or “THANK YOU”. Another cool thing is she has great taste in sweaters and clothing, which is one of the things Jeremy noticed about her when they first layed eyes on each other at a party back in the day!

Can’t wait for their day later this year!

Also, saw the movie, INTO THE WILD last week. SUPERB!!!! I loved every second of it, very moving, and the fact that it was a true story was what really made it so real and capturing.

So stay tuned as there will be more to come on the blog and I promise to keep up with it this month!

This time of year is when I come alive and creep out of my winter shell and live it up!

So TA TA FOR NOW!!!

and as Sue Ann would say,

SMILE ON!!!

ps…a pic to go along with this post…a strappy shoe of course…one of my favorite things in the world to photograph and wear!!!
