Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Susan Stripling in her home in Brooklyn. It was such a cool experience and I learned quite a few things from the day! We kind of got stuck with some not so great weather conditions to shoot in, but we tried to make the best of it. After an information packed sushi lunch, we had a really adorable couple come out and show us what they got. They were just about the cutest people to photograph! So into each other! Here is what I got for the day! This posts image uploader is having a mind of its own today, so I am giving my thanks to Susan now rather than the end of the post!!!
Enjoy and Happy Friday!

This is Susan!

I am a sucker for body language shots…
I think this my favorite image from the day!

Susan opened her home to us,which was very cool of her, and I snagged her “Patience” dish to grab this ring shot! I think that about sums up one of the finer ingredients of a sucessful marriage! ;o)
In our house it is very important we practice good dental hygiene. Especially my daughter because she is a huge thumbsucker and constantly has her thumb in her mouth. I usually dread when it is time to brush teeth, simply becuase it is about a 2 minute task that takes us about 20 minutes. There usually involves some sort of argument over who gets to hold the toothpaste, who gets to be at the sink, and ends most times with me having to pin down the two little munchkies so I can ACTUALLY brush their teeth. (it is also common for them just to suck the toothpaste off of the brush and never actually do any brushing).
So this is something I want to remember for sure. Perhaps to remind them years from now what I put up with every morning and night!!! This toothbrushing session today with my daughter was a tame one. Her big brother was at school and she had noone to play off of! ;o)

I do monitor this next step of applying the paste…since in the past has been quite the production.

so fun…who knew?

Happy Thursday!

Here is Kelly. She is one of my old Brides ( not old by age!). Kelly and I met when she was getting married in 2007 and looking for a wedding photographer. I ended up booking with her, and after shooting her wedding, her and I gradually and naturally just cliqued and became friends. This happens at times with my business because I only take on so many weddings a year, and the fact that photographing weddings really requires me to get more personable with my clients, more of a friendship level. The fact that getting personable is one of my favorite parts about my job is just a bonus!
So I met kelly and we became friends! We discuss things like having man-hands, and telling each other the other really does not have man hands! We go to wine tastings (I experienced my first with Kelly by my side!), and we go thrift store shopping, one of my favorite past times, finding something with character, a story, and a bargain! Kelly is like that to me! I got a 2-for-1 deal with her! I got a cool client and an awesome, down to earth, fun and honest friend! I consider myself a lucky lady! ;o) She is the treasure found amongst the dusty shelves of a vintage store. She is worth more than what the price tag reveals!
So here she is…

One of my favorites from the day!

I made Kelly jump and she lost her necklace while in the process. Good thing I have insurance for my business! ;o)

another one of my favorites!

We walked down to the creek and got in the extremely icey-cold water to shoot these. Hence the wader-boots we purchased before the shoot! Thank the Heavens for those!

Okay…so Kelly nearly fell through the ice a couple times when I asked her give me a big jump in the creek. Ooooooopsie! I would totally have gone in after her! (It was only a foot deep)

HOT…so pretty!
So Kelly and I have decided (well more like I decided and Kelly has no choice but to agree with me!) that we are going to do a 4 part series…Winter, Spring, Summer, and then of course, my favorite season, Fall. And then perhaps I will put together a book of the final completed series. I am so excited to see what I come up with in all the different seasons using the same subject (kelly ;o)
Happy Thursday!

Another teaser from Kelly’s shoot yesterday. I am off to my son’s birthday party today so I am sure I will have a ton to share between kelly’s shoot on Saturday and my son’s party!
Enjoy your Sunday!

This pic is just enough to give you an idea about what was involved with Kelly’s portrait session today! ;o)
A fun pair of blue water proof wader boots!
We froze our Batookuses off! ;o)
More to come soon!
Happy Saturday!

It is rare that I take my camera out to capture shots of my little ones. I have to remind myself that they will only be this young once and that it would be such a shame if I one day look back and wish I could remember who they were at this time in life and have no photographs to help me do so. Actually one of the things on my to-do-list this year is to keep up with my family photos on a monthly basis! Also to buy a video camera so I can record their voices! These two are the most wonderful gift I have ever received in life! They are everything to me and a constant reminder of how precious life is.
Nina…she is a diva and a very VERY dramatic little princess! But she is full of spirit, can light up a room, and we all love her dearly! ;o)

Nina is an animal lover and is very fond of Grandma’s dog Guinness!

I am not sure where the other leg warmer went for the next couple shots?! Story of the day-in-a-life of a Mom!

We found the leg warmer! Yipppeeeeeee!

I love this shot of her…I want her hair.
I mentioned the word Chocolate and she ran over to the end of the table and gave me a big and VERY cheesey smile…
but don’t be fooled…that didn’t last more than three seconds!
It is a known fact that Nina spends the majority of her day staring at and following my son Peyton’s every move. She loves him so much! They are a cute little team!
Peyton…who is the spitting image of my dad when he was younger! I love that!

What a ham!

P.S. I am an “EVEN STEVEN” kind of mom just so you know…Peyton was napping through most of the picture taking this time around! ;o)

Meet Sebastien! He is a very adorable little one that I had the pleasure of shooting a session for in his home! I always love when clients ask me to come shoot a session at their home. It is so personable and I really get to know who they are! I love that about my job! I can’t say enough nice things about my experience shooting Sebastien. I mean…what guy do you know can make it through about 4 clothing changes in two hours and not make a peep?! Sebastien can! Here are some of my favorites from the day…
This is the man of the hour hanging out with Lola…so cute! They were the same size at one point or another I am sure!

The nursery is beautiful and I loved all the little details in the room!

the little guy has quite the impressive collection of shoes for his age!

Everytime I look at this photo I imagine Sebastien saying “Should I do the mashed peas tonight or the pears and cheerios?”

Santa Muscles!

I absolutely love this moment! Bringing life into this world is a blessing and moments like these are what life is really all about!
Have a Happy Sunday!

I can’t believe I have been such a slacker with my blogging lately. It is something that I really enjoy doing and life has kept me from it and I don’t like it one bit! So I am very excited to share a really cute portrait session I had a while back with little Violet! She is the most adorable little bundle of joy of one of my ‘06 wedding clients, Jolene and Tom! It is always such a pleasure to be a continuous part of my client’s lives…to be asked to help them not only document the most intimate day in their lives, but then to meet again with a little one in tow! So beautiful!
So here are some of my favorites from Violet’s session!

Violet is a girl after my own heart! She had these adorable little furry booties! LOVED them!
my favorite from the day!

Of course the shoot would not be complete with out one of these in the mix!
Happy Tuesday!

I was so happy to hear from Kristin, who has been a client of mine from the past, and was even more surprised when she told me she was having a baby!!!! There is nothing better in life than knowing you are caring and nuturing for a baby inside you and that soon you will be able to meet the little peanut and see what’s been brewing!!! Kristin contacted me a while ago to do a maternity/family session at her home and I was so excited to see her belly and catch up on what’s knew with the family! I knew she was going to look radient and I was right! She is one hot mama!!!
So here are some of my favorites from the shoot!
She’s having a boy! Can you guess his name?!
I had fun using some of my own textures I created to add a bit of moodiness to the image.
She’s Hot I tell ya!
This is her daughter giving some love to the little one inside! I love this pic!
some family shots!
I like this one too!

So I hope all goes well with delivering the little angel that awaits to meet the world outside!
Have a great night!
P.S. Ever since I got a new dashboard for blogging I can’t figure out how to get rid of the hiddeous link borders around the images…so please don’t think I am trying something new that just isn’t working in my favor. ;o)
Meg
I actually hate having my picture taken…
