I actually did it…

( this could be boring…forewarning…;o)

I actually made a step in the right direction in keeping one of my new year’s resolutions, “getting more fit and making better food choices”. I thought I had gained 10 pounds. I actually only gained 7 pounds. It was the easiest three pounds I had ever lost. I have gained weight simply by making poor food choices (being “on the go” constantly) and by planting my butt in front of my computer editing away! So I have decided to gain a bit of balance in my life and work out. I used to walk 2 miles faithfully everyday in sun, sleet, rain, snow and 9 degree weather even. You name it I walked in it. I am pretty sure I will not become quite as obsessive as I used to be, especially since now I have two tots that keep me going, but I will certainly do my best to create balance in my life. Paying attention to Mind-Body as well as Spirit is so important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and that is my biggest goal this year ( I have a gigantic list ;o)

In Honor of my new year’s resolution, I set the alarm for 6 a.m. this very morning and by 6:30 a.m. I had come up with every excuse in the book as to why it is so much more beneficial for me to stay in bed. Then I realized what I was doing…Yikes! Back to the Old Meg.  I dragged myself out of bed, realized I have no clothes to work out in, since it has been two years since exercising, and wore the funkiest outfit ever to walk in. It was dark so I didn’t mind so much! Although I did say “hi” to a neighbor that probably wouldn’t have ignored me if she saw me mid-day in a normal outfit. I walked a fast pace for about a mile and a half  and while doing so realized that I have a lot of dogs in my neighborhood. I think I woke up nearly all of them. I plan on having this be my morning ritual. It is my new devoted time to me and I am thinking this one little change could make other goals seem tangible too. Enjoy your day!
